More clots

Ruth called last night to tell me Dad has several more blood clots in his left leg. According to her, his left leg almost tripled in size over Sunday night. The Hospice doctor came yesterday and gave Dad the choice of either letting them go (meaning one of them could go to his brain or lung and kill him) or to treat them with shots again. Dad opted for the shots twice a day and they will monitor. This is worrisome because he is on a blood thinner and still getting new clots. Hospice said this does happen to people with cancer, just very often. Usually people with cancer have the opposite issue and tend to bleed more. She also says he was very tired this weekend and could only walk up four steps without resting but refused to ride in the wheelchair....go dad! We were there on the 19th and I noticed his belly is getting larger. He says it is because he is eating a ton, but flab is soft. I poked him in the belly while joking and was distressed to find it very hard. He has gained 30 pounds since getting out of the hospital and neither I nor most people agree that it is from eating. But...his spirits seem to be up and he has been far chattier than normal lately. This is good.

He is officially retiring from Haworth and I hear a retirement party is in the works but with the events of yesterday I don't know. I think he has been there 23-24 years. We are also suppose to celebrate their (Dad & Ruth) 30th anniversary next week, but again I don't know what will happen with that.

That's all I have for now.
