Dad spent most of Saturday night in the ER in Zeeland. He spiked a fever quite suddenly and it would not break so they took him in. So after several standard tests (blood counts, chest x-ray, urinalysis, etc) the verdict was a "tumor fever". His oncologist says that when tumors grow they release toxins into the body that the body tries to fight. Basically a fever in one way the body fights infection, soft of by trying "frying" the germs. So I guess we are to assume that the tumors are growing and releasing more toxins into his body. He was released after his fever went down and I hear he is feeling much better today. So we enter another puddle on our cancer path; fortunately it was a relatively small one.
It has been 17 months to the day I started this blog. We have been pretty lucky concidering the time line Dad was given at the begining. I feel fortunate we will have another Thanksgiving and Christmas with him.
