Dad came to my work last night to finish some work. I have to say I was a nervous wreck! He was shuffling around and looked bad. He said it wasn't one of his better days. He was on the edge of one pain med dose and was a little better after taking his next dose. He started his Tarceva Tuesday morning and said he was experiencing some side effects to it and his belly hurt. We went to Burger King for dinner because he didn't want to skip dinner but wanted something fast. I am waiting for my daughter to melt down, during dinner she kept glacing at him with a sad little face. He had a bad headache and sat there holding his head with his eyes closed. She was very quiet the rest of the night.

On a side note - I am in need of a cheesy 70's tux for a prom me & my man are going to in April. I would prefer a powder blue of apricot orange, ruffle shirt and all. I will buy or borrow. He needs a 42 regular jacket and a 34-35/30 pant. We can make something a little bigger work. It's all about cheesey and tacky!

You're never gonna believe this...

Somebody mailed my purse back to me!!! Only the cash was missing, my camera and everything else is back. I can't even explain how bad I was shaking when I opened it. It restores some of my faith in humanity. I still can't believe it. There was no return address so I don't know who sent it and honestly I don't care. I don't even care about the money at all.

So, my life is looking well. I have my honey back ("the one" and it took 8 years for us to get back together) and I have my purse back. Now all I would want is SPRING! I know I'm greedy, but we all have wants. I forgot to say Congrats to my mom. She received a "Salute to Women in Business" award from GRCC on Tuesday. It was nice, all my aunts came to town (Arizona, the U.P.) and we all got teary-eyed over it. But alas, they made me go to Old Country Buffet for dinner. I hate that place and I am still feeling it.

Growing again

First let me say I have not read the written reports for the abdominal CT scan for myself yet. They (the hospital) put the correct CT scan pictures on the disk but the old written report from December. I will put up more info when I get a copy and read it over. His head CT scan was negative (take what you want from that..ha ha). According to the Oncologist, a couple of Dad's tumors have grown very slightly. From what I know of Dad's tumors and from what the doctor said I think it is the larger one in his liver and one of the larger lymph nodes in his chest. He said the growth is not substantial, but I don't know what his comparison is.

Dad will be starting Tarceva (There should be a link if you click the name). Tarceva is a "target drug" approved by the FDA in late 2004. It is similar to chemo in that it is intended to slow cancer growth, but because it targets a specific protein in the cancer cells it is not as toxic to the surrounding cells as "normal" chemo drugs. This protein, which helps cells to divide, is found at abnormally high levels on the surface of many types of cancer cells, including many cases of non-small cell lung cancer. It has also shown to be more effective in certain groups of patients including person's who have never smoked (my dad is one of those). So in plain english - it stops the cancer cells from dividing which slows tumor growth.

So hopefully this will fight it off for a while because the Avastin, as shown by the CT scan results, is no longer enough to keep it at bay.

People SUCK!

I have to say I try to see good in humanity, but I am having a hard time right now. Some rotten lady stole my purse from the shopping cart at D & W last night. I was distracted and for the very first time I forgot my purse in the cart. From the time I walked out of the store to when I walked back in paniced it was about 3 minutes. It was my stupid fault for forgetting it, but cripes they have her on camera stealing it. She picked it up, then put it back in the cart while she stood at the service desk, then took her purse off her shoulder and stuffed it on top of my purse and just walked away like nothing. I didnt sleep last night, I am sick to my stomach still, I had to cancell everything and get new. My $350 digital camera was in there with 3 months of pictures I didn't get on my computer yet. My mp3 player, 3 flash drives for work, over $100 cash and several other small stupid sentimental things. My daughter cried because she gave me a rock when she was two and it was in my purse, 5 years I have carried that rock with me! My mini multi-tool, my pocket duct tape....all gone because some jerk with no morals took it! The only good part is I was on my phone and put it in my coat pocket before I got to the store otherwise that would have been gone too. So now some crappy woman has my address and all my stuff. I dont even care about the money that was in there.

I know the GR police will not spend any time on this even though she is on camera. They wouldn't even take a report last night because it was unattended. I did speak to a police friend of mine and got the name of a nice captian that agreed to take the report in light of her being on video. I know my purse really is a minimal loss in the big picture, especially with all the bank robberies lately - but it was important to me! So, I hope my camera electrocutes her, I hope she tries to use my card and gets caught and I hope someone does this to her someday! So now you all now I wish bad things on people sometimes. I am not a nice person sometimes.

All I can say is that I am glad it was my purse and not one of my children. I was keeping track of them, which is probably why I was distracted. And I guess it is good that she didn't beat my over the head to take it. All in all it just sucks.
